Man to Adore: So Ji Sub (Part 2)

The Master's Sun ended last night. Let's all take a moment to mourn over our loss of one of the best drama in k-drama history.

Because we need to finish what we started I owe hundreds people who read Man to Adore: So Ji Sub (Part 1), and because many of you seem to have missed So Ji Sub already, now I'm sitting in front of my lappie to write this post. There are still a lot of things to write about our dearest So Ji Sub ahjussi oppa, and as promised,  this post will be about his movies. (Does it mean there will be part 3? Let's wait and see.)

So Ji Sub's movie list is not as long as his drama list, so I guess this post will have more pics than the first one. Yay!

Sexy So Ji Sub to open this post. Stop touching your monitor, readers.

I have only watch 4 So Ji Sub's movies: Rough Cut, Sophie's Revenge, Always, and A Company Man.

We'll start with Rough Cut (2008).

So Ji Sub | Rough Cut

I'm actually not a big fan of action movie, but the last scene in this movie made me drop my jaw. It was one intense hitting-punching-jabbing scene.

And all the mud! I didn't know who is who anymore...

Starring So Ji Sub and Kang Ji Hwan, this movie gave them both many awards. The story writer is Mr. Kim Ki Duk (he's a genius!), and if you're a fan of k-movie I'm sure you've heard his name. Just like other Kim Ki Duk's movies, Rough Cut has a dark aura (?) and unique storyline. Watch it!

Chic Joo Joong Won is Gangster Gang Pae

Next, we have Sophie's Revenge (2009). It's a Chinese-Korean movie (although I think the only Korean is So Ji Sub). I wish I can see more of So Ji Sub in the movie, but sadly he's not the leading role (how come!?).

So Ji Sub | Sophie's Revenge

The cast of this movie are all famous stars (Zhang Zi Yi, Peter Ho, So Ji Sub, Fan Bing Bing, Ruby Lin). A light romantic-comedy you can watch when you have too much time in hands. Fun, but honestly, forgettable.

So Ji Sub as a *ehmHOTehm* surgeon named Jeff.

So Ji Sub & Zhang Zi Yi

Moving on to the next movie, my favorite, Always / Only You (2011).

So Ji Sub | Always

So Ji Sub and Han Hyo Joo

If I have to pick one word to describe this movie, it will be 'BEAUTIFUL'. If I can pick 2 words: 'VERY BEAUTIFUL'. Beautiful story, cast, cinematography, songs... I LOVE it, I can watch this movie again and again and I'll still love it.

So Ji Sub and Han Hyo Joo

So many beautiful posters.

I shouldn't post every poster I found but I just can't choose.

So what's this movie about? Cheol Min (So Ji Sub) is an ex-boxer who had a dark past and now living his life without purpose. He's hired as a parking lot attendant and on his first day he met Jung Hwa (Han Hyo Joo), a blind woman who always goes to the booth to watch drama with the previous parking attendant ahjussi. They start to know each other and fall in love, but...

Okay, I'll stop. I don't want to ruin it, because you should watch this beautiful movie with your own eyes.

I'm practically spamming here...

The latest movie from So Ji Sub is A Company Man (2012).

So Ji Sub | A Company Man

Hyeong Do (So Ji Sub) looks like an ordinary (with extraordinary look) employee, but he's actually a hitman.

If only this guy works in my office...

But of course hitman is also an ordinary human, as he can fall in love too, and Hyeong Do found himself falling for a single mother of two, Su Yeon (Lee Mi Yeon). He wants to change his life and quit his job, but of course it's not easy. Choose your job well, people.

So Ji Sub wearing suit and tie, holding a gun. There will be many victims.

Shoot me with you love bullets.

Congratulations, you have reached the last paragraph. I know this post, and also the first part, lack so many details, so feel free to leave a comment so the others can read it!

K-Movie to Watch: Castaway on the Moon (2009)

You need to see this. You really HAVE to see this.

Castaway on the Moon is one of the best Korean movies I’ve seen so far. It’s weird, fun, unique, colorful, and beautiful. It’s not like any other Korean movies I’ve seen. It’s just awesomely different.

It’s actually a pretty old movie, from 2009, and I don’t know why I’ve never heard about this movie before. How can it take 4 years for me to accidentally find this movie?

Anyway, luckily I finally did and I’m writing this post right away after finished watching the movie. I feel the urge to tell every movie lovers out there to watch this awesome movie, because it deserves it.
I read in the Wikipedia that this movie got a lot of awards, and now I know why. The story is great, the cinematography pleases my eyes, I have no bad words for this movie. I can say I enjoy every second of this 2 hour long movie.

This movie is actually just a story about two people: Male Kim and Female Kim.

Male Kim (Jung Jae Young)  tried to kill himself by jumping off a bridge to Han River, but he ended up in a conservation island named Bam Island, where no one lives. He wrote ‘HELP’ on the beach and screamed for rescue, but nothing worked. He tried to hang himself but then changed his mind, he tried to survive in the island and he actually started to enjoy his life alone. He changed ‘HELP’ to ‘HELLO’, and one day, he found a message in a bottle: ‘HELLO’.

Female Kim (Jung Ryeo Won) is addicted to Cyber World and she never leaves her room. She also loves to take pictures of moon at night using her camera. One day she saw ‘HELP’ written on the beach of Bam Island, and spotted a weird man in the island. She began to observe the man every day.

When the man changed ‘HELP’ to ‘HELLO’, she decided to go out of her room and send him a ‘HELLO’. Male Kim and Female Kim start communicating with their own unique way.

Ok, I'm not gonna spoil it so you better watch it yourself! Right now!

Haru: An Unforgettable Day in Korea

TVXQ's U-Know Younho, Lee Da Hae, Kim Bum, Park Si Hoo, Han Chae Young, and all Big Bang members in one movie? No, this is not a fanmade, this is an actual movie from 2010.

This movie is made to promote Korea's tourism: nature, beautiful scenery, delicious food, handsome stranger on a train (?), idols on ATVs (?). Well, well, I can't say this movie has great story, I don't even know what Big Bang members' role in this, and in addition to that, Han Chae Young & Park Si Hoo's story is basically a horrible version of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but this movie will be a 30 minutes vacation for your eyes.

Songs I'm Listening To

Lately I've been listening to these songs, again and again.

First, Ailee's Love Note (사랑 첫 느낌) from Full House Take 2 (the drama is also a nice one).

Here is the song MV:

Check out the lyrics! (Hangeul from melOn)

Haru jongil jakku yeori na
Don't know 나 왜 이러는지
Don't know na wae ireoneunji
Geudae nal bogo useumyeon
Geudaega nareul seuchimyeon

Nae shimjangi jakku dugeundae
Don't know 나 기분이 좋아져
Don't know na kibuni johajyeo
Na jogeumeun na jogeumeun al geot gata
I call it love
Sarang sarang I call it love

Sarang cheot nekkim
Haengbokhaejyeo nan gaseumi tteollyeo
Hanadulsshik nal dalkomhaejige mandeulgo
Nan jeo haneureul  narayo

I just fall in love
Utgo tto utjyo
Nae sarangi nae sarangi watjyo
Nae kkumcheoreom budeureobge naege dagawayo
Uri saranghaeyo

Heo haessari neomu ttaseuhae
Don't know 나 미소만 가득해
Don't know na misuman gadeughae
Na ijeneun na ijeneun al goet gata
I call it love
Sarang Sarang I call it love

Sarang cheot nekkim
Haengbokhaejyeo nan gaseumi tteollyeo
Hanadulsshik nal dalkomhaejige mandeulgo
Nan jeo haneureul  narayo

I just fall in love

Sarang sarangi watjyo

Oh my love
Oh my love gaedae soneul jabgo shipeoyo
Ojik geudaeman boyeoyo

I just fall in love

Nae sarangi nae sarangi watjyo
Nae kkumcheoreom budeureobge naege dagawayo
Uri saranghaeyo

English translation:

All day, I keep getting a fever
Don’t know why I’m like this
When you smile at me
When you pass by me

My heart keeps beating
Don’t know, I feel happy
Little by little I think I know
Love, love, I call it love

That first feeling of love
I’m getting happy, my heart is trembling
Each thing is making me sweeter
I am flying trough heaven

I just fall in love
I smile and smile
My love, my love has come
Like a dream, it softly comes to me
We are in love

That sunlight is so warm
Don’t know, I’m all smiles
Now, now I think I know
Love, love, I call it love

That first feeling of love
I’m getting happy, my heart is trembling
Each thing is making me sweeter
I am flying trough heaven

I just fall in love
I smile and smile
My love, my love has come
Like a dream, it softly comes to me
We are in love

Love, love has come
Like a dream, come hug me
Oh my love, I want to hold your hand
I only see you

I just fall in love
I smile and smile
My love, my love has come
Like a dream, it softly comes to me
We are in love

The second song comes from the movie Soar into the Sun (Return to Base), Rain's (Bi) latest movie.

Have you guys seen it? I think it's a very touching movie. I saw it without big expectation, but I end up loving it, and the song, titled 태양 가까이 (Close to the Sun). I love the acoustic version of the song by Jo Hyeon A 조현아 from Urban Zakapa. (I also love Urban Zakapa. Well I love a lot of things.) Although the song title is in korean, the lyrics are in English.

You’ve dreamed of living in the shining star
And if I could, if I could be your dream day after day
I wanna be where you are day by day
Believe in you believe in me, yeah

Hey I’m gonna fly
Just like a butterfly
Let me take you there
More higher, more higher
Hey I’m gonna fly
Just like a butterfly
Let me take you there
More higher, more higher
Hey I’m gonna fly~

You’ve dreamed of flying to the glamorous sky
And if I could, if I could be your dream day after day
I wanna be where you are day by day
Believe in you believe in me

Hey I’m gonna fly
Just like a butterfly
Let me take you there
More higher, more higher
Hey I’m gonna fly
Just like a butterfly
Let me take you there
More higher, more higher
Hey I’m gonna fly~

John Park (존박) - Childlike (철부지)

This is the song from 'A Werewolf Boy' that I talked about in my previous post. Enjoy!

Hangeul
Credit : Daum Music

Gutge datchin mun ape hancham seo itdaga
Balgeoreumeul dolligo georeogabnida
Ibusureul kkaemulmyeo myeotbeonigo dajimhajiman
Heureuneun nunmulkkajin jabji mothabnida

Geudael sarangharyeo haetdeon geosi jalmosibnida
Naneun nae jujereul moreuneun baborabnida
Iri nopeun byeoke dulleossain geudaee bihae
Nan amugeotdo mot gajin cheolbujibnida

Sarangiran geu mari neomu dalkomhaeseo
Yeongwonhi bitnarira mideossseubnida
Hajiman kkumcheoreom seolledeon nari jinani
Angsanghage nae moseubman namassseubnida

Geudael sarangharyeo haetdeon geosi jalmosibnida
Naneun nae jujereul moreneun baborabnida
Iri nopeun byeoke dulleossain geudaee bihae
Nan amogeotdo mot gajin cheolbujibnida

Ollado ollado heulleonaerineun
Moraeeondeok aneseo
Mureupkkaji ppajyeo heoujeokdaedeon
Nae moseubeun eottaessseubnikka

Geudael sarangharyeo haetdeon geosi jalmosibnida
Naneun nae jujereul moreuneun baborabnida
Iri nopeun byeoke dulleossain geudaee bihae
Nan amogeotdo mot gajin cheolbujibnida

English Translation:

After a long time standing in front of a tightly shut door
I turned my footsteps around and walked away
I bit my lips and told myself several times but
I still couldn’t hold in my flowing tears

I was wrong for trying to love you
I am a fool, who didn’t know my place
Compared to you, who is surrounded by high walls
I’m child-like, who has nothing

The word “love” was so sweet
That I believed it would shine forever
But after the dream-like, heart fluttering days were over
Only my gaunt self remained

Trying to love you was wrong
I am a fool, who didn’t know my place
Compared to you, who is surrounded by high walls
I’m child-like, who who has nothing

I climbed, and clime, but the sand hill kept flowing down
As I struggled with my knees sinking in – how did I look then?

Trying to love you was wrong
I am a fool, who didn’t know my place
Compared to you, who is surrounded by high walls
I’m child-like, who who has nothing

Korean Movies, A Company Man and A Werewolf Boy

I love watching movies and TV series. When I watch them, I can forget my problems for a moment and just think about someone else's problems. Haha. The good thing is, their problems are always solved, not like mine... :'(

There are some movies I've been waiting to watch, So Ji Sub's 'A Company Man' and Song Joong Ki's 'A Werewolf Boy'. They have premiered in Korean, but I don't know when I can watch it here in Indonesian theatre.

I've been So Ji Sub's fan since high school, I first saw him in 'Sorry, I Love You', and I've watched almost all his moviess and dramas ever since. The last one is 'Ghost' (drama), but my all time favorite is 'Always' (movie), with Han Hyo Joo.

So Ji Sub in 'Ghost'

So Ji Sub and Han Hyo Joo in 'Always'

As for Song Joong Ki, I first saw him in Running Man, and lately I'm watching him in 'Nice Guy' as Kang Maru. I read an article about his new film 'A Werewolf Boy', watched the trailer, fell in love with the soundtrack (John Park - Childlike), and found myself waiting for this movie. I really can't wait. I also read that the 'A Werewolf Boy' and 'Skyfall' premiered on the same day in Korea and 'A Werewolf Boy' won over 'Skyfall'. Song Joong Ki must have been proud.

Well, while I'm waiting for this movie to premier in Indonesia, I've been doing some searching and found some good pictures that can be used as wallpapers. I use one for my laptop background. Enjoy :)

Update: I've finally watched A Company Man. The story was... so so, it was mostly gunshots and blood, but So Ji Sub did a great job (of course). I hope he will pick funny or playful or cheerful character for his next project. It's a side of him that he always shows during interview but not in the movies and dramas, so... maybe a character that's similar to So Ji Sub himself? One quote I like from the movie: Don't work your life away. (Okay, So Ji Sub-ssi? kekeke)

Update 2: Waiting for the subtitle for A Werewolf Boy feels like forever, but finally I can find it. Even it's still not 100%, but it's enough, so I watched the movie yesterday. I love Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Young's acting, they're both still young (and look good together btw), but they did great. The story is predictable but still it's fun to watch when you have 2 hours to kill (Song Joong Ki is always a good choice). Now, where can I get my own werewolf boy?
